The Top 10 Reasons to Celebrate Easter in Rick Retro's Realm
Rick Retro’s Realm, The Realm Report #2: Also including Easter Week news and updates.
The Top 10 Reasons to Celebrate Easter in Rick Retro's Realm
#10. Churches are too crowded on Easter.
#9. We have Dark Whimsy.
#8. We don’t have Easter eggs. Therefore, there’s no pressure to hunt for them.
#7. You’re a left-wing atheist, and feel like taking a break from advocating for porn in elementary schools, so you think it might be fun to visit the Realm to insult/mock a few Christians in the Comment sections of posts, knowing Rick Retro probably won’t block you for a day or two. (See, I told you we have Dark Whimsy.)
#6. You’re wracked with guilt because you still haven’t subscribed.
#5. You have ambitions to be an Easter Grinch, and think Rick Retro’s Realm might make a good stand-in Whoville.
#4. You’re a conservative influencer who criticized Trump’s tariff policies, so he didn’t invite you to the White House Easter bash. “I don’t like that guy. Really bad, maybe the worst ever.”
#3. We have fun genre emojis, like this one for Easter holiday films: 🐇. Full list here.
#2. You’re stuck sick at home from eating too many Reese’s peanut butter eggs.
And the #1 Reason to Celebrate Easter at Rick Retro’s Realm:
#1. This list is for entertainment purposes only. For heaven’s sake, celebrate at church with fellow Christians! You can check back in with us on Monday. 😉
But Seriously.
Happy Easter Week!
As Christians worldwide celebrate the sacrificial death and glorious resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, we give thanks for God’s grace in providing His Son as our redemption, to save each of us from the just penalty for our sins.
May God bless you all!
Oops.
When I scheduled the review dates for our current Project #3, Dark Whimsy Favorites, I was just scheduling a review every fourth day, without really paying close attention to a calendar. So I accidentally scheduled a review to be released on Good Friday. My bad. Instead I will move up the review of Romancing the Stone (1984) to tomorrow, Thursday, April 17. The remainder of the schedule remains unchanged.
Just for Fun!
Also on the main itinerary page for the current project, I’ve added all of the Dark Whimsy readings from each of the reviewed films, so that you can compare how Dark and how Whimsical the films were. Check it out at the link provided above and follow along!
Background Work Completed!
All of our Retro Reviews now include the names of the producer(s), screenplay writer(s) and director(s) in the caption of the movie poster, since I don’t always mention them in the body of the review. The writer of any source material is already included in the Secondary Information Line, so only the adaptation writers are mentioned here. The significant stars of each movie are usually mentioned in the review itself, or, if not, they are mentioned in a photo caption. In addition, I have researched the copyright holders for all works and credited them in photo captions as applicable.
Subscriber Count!
We now have 26 subscribers, 15% more than when Realm Report #1 was published. As I explained in that issue here, I’m not really even trying hard to grow yet, so I’m grateful for the new subscribers. New subscriber, or not, we’d love to get to know you better. Why not say “Hi” and tell us where you are reading from in the comments? Be brave!
A New Discovery
When I was watching The Man With Two Brains, I noticed that Jeffrey Combs, who later stars as a young doctor in Re-Animator, played a small role as a young doctor in this film. I guess he did a good job, landing the bigger part. So I updated the old post “Dark Whimsy Favorites: The Actors and Actresses” to reflect that new discovery.
John 6:40
For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.
Have a blessed Easter!
