Rick Retro’s Realm, Behind the Scenes #5: Future plans and stuff like that, ideas to serve you better.

I decided to start splitting my two-post days into a scheduled morning post and a scheduled afternoon post (evening for you on the East Coast). Not a big deal, but it increases the likelihood that responses come directly after the post they are commenting on. Won’t be an issue once we’re platformed with comments tied to posts, but it’s a tiny issue now. But please feel free to comment on earlier posts, even if they are long past. Your comments add so much for everyone!

Also, after two straight R-rated movies in which I had to explain why I lowered grades from where they might have landed considering entertainment value alone, I’m planning to add some more information in my reviews in the future, using simple emoji icons, grades and ratings.

The purpose for this is to give you more information about the reasons for my overall grade, without having to explain that in every review. Doing this will allow me to keep my reviews shorter, more fun and positive, and seasoned with interesting trivia. I won’t need to go into the details as much about what I didn’t like. More fun for me as a writer and probably you as a reader, too.

Once I’ve worked out the details, I will do a series of “Rick Retro’s Rationales” posts explaining the thought processes that went into the ratings system design, and how the ratings will be applied.

After that a Reference Rundown post, or perhaps a couple, will track the icons and abbreviations used, in handy reference form.
