Too Sick to Leave the Couch
Rick Retro’s Realm, Behind the Scenes #20: Today involved a bit of a change of plans.
I went to bed early last night (6:30 p.m.), tired from a lack of sleep due probably to the adrenaline rush from buying a dot com domain and starting to build my Substack space. 😯
At about 11 p.m., I woke up with a headache feeling super sick. Went back to bed and slept until about 7:30 a.m., waking up a few times in between still feeling super sick. I still had the headache and felt terrible at 7:30, but at least I was able to get up and out of bed.
It’s almost 3 p.m. as I write this, and I’m only just beginning to feel better. I’ve had nights and days like this for over 20 years now. At first, pretty much once a week. 20 years later, although I feel slightly sick pretty much all the time, these really bad spells have become rare—maybe just a few of them a year now. June 20, 2024, was the last time I had a day as bad as this one.
I was hoping to spend time in my office on the desktop computer today, copying posts from our text group into my Substack publication. That went out the window—too sick to leave the couch.
Instead, I did have a nice brief conversation with a Substack writer. She writes about movies and since she follows her subscribers, and I discovered her writing and subscribed shortly after creating my Substack profile, she became my first follower. Today she posted some very interesting thoughts about film that represent a very different perspective than my own. I couldn't resist commenting and received a nice reply back. I suspect we may not agree on much, but we did have some common ground. She seems like a very welcoming, warm-hearted person and you can tell from her writing that she’s quite intelligent too. If you have time, you can read her post:
Hopefully I will be able to get back to work soon and have more for you tomorrow.
Thanks for your support.
Keep the comments coming!
